Ingredient story
Zinc oxide – a naturally occurring mineral that absorbs both UVA and UVB rays of ultraviolet light, zinc oxide can be used in ointments, creams, and lotions to protect against sunburn and other damage to the skin caused by ultraviolet light (sunscreen). It is the broadest spectrum UVA and UVB absorber that is approved for use as a sunscreen by FDA, and is completely photostable.
Titanium Dioxide – a naturally occurring mineral that offers opacity to cosmetic formulations. It is found in almost every sunscreen with a physical blocker because of its high refractive index, its strong UV light absorbing capabilities and its resistance to discoloration under ultraviolet light. This advantage enhances its stability and ability to protect the skin from ultraviolet light. Sunscreens designed for(people with sensitive skin are often based on titanium dioxide and/or zinc oxide, as these mineral UV blockers are less likely to cause skin irritation than chemical UV absorber ingredients.

Potassium Sorbate - is found in the mountain laurel ash (sorbus species) whose dried berries were used as a traditional food preservative.

Tricaprylin - skin conditioning agent. Retards the evaporation of water from the skin’s surface. By blocking the evaporative loss of water, occlusive materials increase the water content of the skin.
Aluminum Hydroxide – helps to provide soothing and comfort to the skin.

Q: How is our mineral makeup different/better than other brands?
A: This is a highly competitive arena, and although we are not the first on the market with these types of products, we are confident that we have learned from observing the competitive brands and creating a product that will provide better results for your clients.

Much of the “magic” of mineral makeup introduced by competitive brands lies in the Marketing and “wording” of the claims rather in the actual product. Many brands will make the claim “100% pure minerals”. While this may be true, if you take a close look at the formula, it is anything but natural. While there are some on the market that are truly 100% natural, they do not contain the additional benefits that are outlined below:

Water Binding Ingredients/Moisturizers: Secret Agent Mineral Makeup is formulated with moisturizing, water binding ingredients which prevent the powder from looking dry and cakey on dryer skin types. Also, since naturally derived foundations are a common choice for women with skin sensitivities

Non-paraben preservatives: Secret Agent Mineral Makeup is formulated with non-paraben preservatives to ensure the safety of the product and to ensure that the formula is free of any form of microbial contamination, guarantee that the product quality is not compromised, as well as offering an extended shelf life.

There is one brand, in particular, that markets their formula as a 100% natural product without any form of preservative. As a result, the product must be marketed with an expiration date. While the first shipment of our product will have an expiration due to the extended testing required for drug stability, this will no longer be required for future productions.

Just to be to the point…YOU DO NOT WANT TO USE ANYTHING ON YOUR SKIN THAT DOES NOT CONTAIN SOME FORM OF A PRESERVATIVE SYSTEM.

Chelating Agents: Secret Agent Mineral Makeup contains chelating agents to help prevent color shifting when applied to more oily skin types. Since mineral makeup is a common choice for women who have combination to more oily skin conditions, it is important that the color does not shift or turn “orange” after worn for an extended period of time.

Q: Why is there an expiration date on this product?

A: As explained above, the first shipment of the Secret Agent Mineral Makeup will have an expiration date due to the finalization of the stability testing (which was completed prior to launch, but not prior to assembly). Future shipments will not require and expiration date and our standard shelf life standards will apply.

Q: Why aren’t these available in the same shade names as our other foundations?

A: The Secret Agent shade range is not exactly matched to the shades in our other foundation lines. Due to the sheer application of this product, an exact shade match is not necessary as the products seems to almost melt into the skin, blending with your skin tone rather than offering and exact “match”.

Q: Are there issues that I need to be aware of?

When introducing yourself to mineral makeup, apply sparingly and always with a powder brush to determine the best coverage for you. Remember…a little goes a long way.

When using a mineral makeup, a clay based mask is recommended on a weekly basis to help purge the pores of debris.

Apply sparingly with a powder brush and layer more foundation as needed to reach the desired application.

Q: I have heard some companies say that mineral makeup is so good for your skin that you can sleep in it. Is that true of our formula as well?

A: No, actually, I would not recommend that anyone sleep in foundation of any kind, from any company. The skin needs the opportunity to breathe. Cleansing twice daily is recommended to maintain optimal skin condition.

Ok, I can’t think of any other questions that you may have, but I am sure that there will be some.

I know you all are going to love this new foundation. Please be sure to post your comments and share your feedback so others can hear what you have to say about this incredible new foundation.

Be sure to check back on Monday. I will tell you all about the new Revitalizing Lash Conditioner…this product is going to WOW! you.

Mineral Makeup

Jennie Gandhi

Since time immemorial
make up has always been an essential part of every woman´s life. From wedding parties to family get together and informal gatherings every woman applied make up to look beautiful and youthful. Although it might make the face look good but the harmful effects of make up were always ignored. Regular application of makeup resulted in aging skin, fine lines, wrinkles and an overall decrease in the natural face value. Thereafter a healthy makeup was required and a mineral based makeup was created by Bare Escentuals in 1976 and was named by Diane Ranger in 1977.

Mineral
make up, by definition, is makeup products made from minerals. It comprises of a variety of natural minerals found in the earth´s crust and is free of chemicals, alcohols, dyes and other preservatives. These minerals are finely milled, pulverized, purified and coated with inorganic pigments before reaching the end consumers. The coated pigments are for coloring and shimmering effects. The most common minerals often used are titanium dioxide and zinc oxide, iron oxide and bismuth oxychloride. Titanium dioxide and zinc oxide have anti-inflammatory properties and are the best UV blockers.

There are several reasons to why these cosmetics made of minerals have become a rising trend in the cosmetic industry. The first and foremost advantage is that the makeup provides an excellent sun protection and is potentially free from fragrance, preservatives and oils. Secondly, they will not clog pores, are water resistant and will not support bacterial growth. Some of the mineral cosmetics also have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory ingredients like vitamin A, C, E, and K and green tea extract. These provide a long lasting application in less expenditure without getting faded out. In humid countries like India, these mineral cosmetics are the perfect products because humidity melts off make up in a very short span of time. No company has ever boosted for their mineral cosmetics but these are some of the consumer reviews for mineral make up.

A pure mineral face makeup is combined with inorganic pigments that help to achieve the desired color. It stays for longer and is much lighter and effective, the best products for people with acne and sensitive skin. Bare mineral make up are cosmetics with loose minerals that are free from waxes and oils. These are used to cover imperfections and offer UV protection.

Following are some of the most widely used ingredients in mineral cosmetics:

Titanium Dioxide: A natural anti-inflammatory agent that blocks ultra violet rays. It is the perfect oxide for any skin type.

Kaolin Clay: A china clay that has good oil absorbing properties.

Mica: A natural glitter that is often used to add color and shimmer.

Serecite: colorless mica that is used to increase shine.

Zinc Oxide: A naturally occurring sunscreen that provides strong resistance to UV rays.

Sericite Mica: It is a mixture of a natural pigment derived from muscovite mica and titanium dioxide. This mineral make up recipe is used for personal care products, lotions and soaps.

Magnesium Stearate: A recipe made from esters of magnesium stearic acid. This recipe is used face powders, mascara, eye shadows, creams and ointments.

Bismuth Oxychloride: A recipe made from fine crystals composed of bismuth and salt. This mineral recipe is used for face powders, foundations, lipsticks and mascara.

It is believed that various mineral oils are used for aromatherapy in order to achieve beautiful and healthy skin. Some people also prefer yoga and different yoga positions help them to attain beautiful skin- the healthiest way of improving skin health.
